Lens lineup…

So, with my Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX DG HSM Nikon becoming the newest member of my lens collection, I figured I would take a few shots to compare the sizes of my various glass, in addition to showcasing the absolute mammoth size of the Bigma. I’ve included a stick of lip balm in the first shot to offer some scale. As you can see, the Bigma is called Bigma for a reason – it really is quite enormous. Even though I’ve found the weight – over 4 pounds – to be a pain when lugging the lens from one location to the next, it actually helps me keep steady when shooting handheld. If I do end up purchasing a teleconverter, however, a tripod might be necessary to keep the subject still and in focus. Something else to note is just how compact the AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED is. I highly recommend this lens to anyone interested in having substantial reach, with Vibration Reduction – which reputedly is like shooting at shutter speeds three stops faster – without an invasive size that most 200mm lenses encompass. It’s an excellent lens that has rewarded me with great results.

  1. Thanks for the exact specs on that chapstick, I was curious what SPF it was haha. Seriously though, nice hawk pictures. Good work brotha. Check out Giving 111, and then Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician. We’re getting some serious love over there.

  2. I’m jealous
