Last weekend I took a trip up to Westchester to hang out with my brother who was winding down his spring break. I took a walk through our town’s woods on Saturday afternoon and snapped a few photographs, specifically documenting the ridiculous overpopulation of White-tailed deer. This is a species that was overhunted in the late 1800s/early 1900s to under 300,000, and now they are all over the place with numbers in the range of 30 million. They are unafraid of humans to their own detriment. I genuinely think, with a little careful planning, I could sneak up on one, jump on it, and ride it around like a horse. While that would be amazing, it really is a serious problem. Maybe one day residents are going to be allowed to take up arms, roam the streets, and keep the deer population in check themselves:
